About Dan
My Story
Thanks for stopping by. The most important part of my story is that I’ve known Jesus Christ as my Savior for as long as I can remember. I’m an active member at New Covenant Presbyterian Church (OPC) in Abingdon, Maryland, where I’m the chairman of the missions committee, teach Sunday School, and generally get involved in what needs to be done. I spend many hours every fall, and some hours the rest of the year, volunteering as coach for a varsity cross-country team for homeschoolers through the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. In the morning hours, and whenever else I can fit it in, I enjoy taking photos of the birds that visit Peacewaiting. At my day job, I’ve worked for over 20 years as a systems engineer in the aerospace & defense industry, where I often write requirements specifications and other technical documents that are much less gripping than Waiting for Peace—my first book.
Personal Life
Breeze and I were married in the year 2000 and together we have six children living on earth, plus the ones in heaven. In the years since the events of Waiting for Peace, God has blessed us with another daughter, a son-in-law, and now a granddaughter. All these children and infants have brought a great amount of blessing and restoration.
"Why are you cast down, O my soul, and why are you in turmoil within me? Hope in God; for I shall again praise him, my salvation and my God."
Psalm 42:11 (ESV)
What is Peacewaiting?
In 2016 we were blessed to move to a home with five wooded acres. There were a few problems with the house and property that brought the price down to a reasonable level. The land feels “out in the country” and secluded, but it is still very convenient to the highway and the suburban areas where we do our living, so it has the best of both worlds. We named our property Peacewaiting, recognizing that it is a peaceful place, but God is ultimately the one who gives us peace, and lasting peace will come with him in eternity. Soon after moving, we faced the tragedies told in Waiting for Peace and realized just how true it was that we needed to wait for God’s peace. And so Peacewaiting provides the spiritual background to Waiting for Peace. In the years since then, we have appreciated the calm and peace that our property provides, and I have found a lot of joy in taking photos of the birds that visit us here. So Peacewaiting also provides the context for my bird photography, which may be a project in the future.
